Boca Grande Fishing Charters/ Fishing Report

Here at Boca Grande Fishing Charters the fish are biting. Redfish, Snook, Trout on the inshore side have been on fire. The shallow back country waters have been holding a lot of fish. Redfish up to 33 inches have been eating live pinfish, shrimp, and cut ladyfish. Snook small and big have been plentiful as well. Shrimp, whitebait have been the top producers. With the warm water temps the Trout have been a little tough to get on the line the past couple weeks. We have managed to catch a few. **Note Redfish, Snook,
& Trout are all closed for harvesting until at least May 2020. We can still catch them but they have to be released.
The Boca Grande Offshore Fishing Charters have been awesome. Trips are producing over 100 fish . We have had some windy/rough days where we have not been able to get out but when we can the action is non stop . On the 18-25 mile trips were catching Grouper, Lane Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Gray Snapper, and Porgys. Some short Grouper at this distance but are managing to get some keepers as well. On the offshore 30+ mile trips Grouper, Snapper, Cudas, Bonita, Cobia, and the occasional Mahi-Mahi have all been bending our rods. All the offshore charters have been great fishing.
On the Boca Grande Offshore Charters we offer many different trips depending on how far you want to go. As a rule the further you go the bigger some of the fish get. But sometimes it’s not all about how big. Either way on the offshore trips we catch a lot of fish and a great time is had by all. Illegal offshore fishing charters are becoming a real problem in the state of Florida and the U.S. Coast Guard and FWC are really starting to crack down.
When booking an offshore charter where you are going out past the 9 mile state waters and targeting reef fish or pelagics always ask the Captain to see his federal permits as well as his Captains license. It’s the law and a federal offense if these are not on the boat and current at all times. If the captain can’t produce then it’s simple get off the boat.
Also another game that the illegals play is they will tell you that you need to go out and purchase a fishing license and this should throw an immediate red flag. All Coast Guard Licensed Captain’s purchase a license that covers all passengers for fishing. And last there is the not clients but friend fishing trip. This is a no brainer and if suggested by a fishing charter when you call to book again just hang up. This also could get not only the Capt but you in a lot of trouble.
On all my charters my clients don’t have to ask because I always show them all of my credentials at the start of the trip.
