*****Boca Grande Inshore Fishing Report - April 2025
The inshore fishing around Boca Grande has been absolutely outstanding as the water continues to warm up with the increasing temperatures. Speckled trout and redfish are especially on fire right now, making for some action-packed days on the water. Anglers are also catching plenty of snook, pompano, ladyfish, and some snapper, thanks to the warmer weather and the last of our cold fronts. These species are starting to feed more aggressively, offering exciting opportunities for anglers.
While inshore fishing can sometimes present challenges, a skilled guide can adapt to any conditions and ensure a successful trip. One of the advantages I offer as a local guide is the use of an 18-foot shallow-running tunnel hull boat. This gives us an edge over other guides who run larger, deep-draft boats. With my boat, we can access hard-to-reach, shallow areas that many others can't get to, allowing us to target fish in prime feeding spots that others simply can’t reach.
The bait of choice for this time of year has been live shrimp, jigs, and cut bait, all of which are attracting strong bites and producing solid catches.
Please note that redfish and snook are catch-and-release only on my charters, even when they are in season, to help preserve the fishery for future generations. Many guides in Southwest Florida are adopting this same practice. We can keep a few trout, as well as some snapper, sheepshead, and pompano, but inshore trips are limited to these species. If you’re looking for a meat trip and want to bring home more fish, I recommend booking an offshore charter instead!
Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a beginner, I’ll ensure you have a great time on the water and the best chance for success. Book your trip today and let’s make the most of these amazing spring fishing conditions!
*****Boca Grande Offshore Fishing Report – April 2025
Spring is here, and we're taking full advantage of the more consistent weather with our Boca Grande offshore fishing trips. With the winter cold fronts behind us and temperatures rising, the fishing conditions are improving, and we’ve been seeing some fantastic action out on the water. While we still have some windy, rough days that keep us inshore for safety, we’ve been making the most of the calm days, and the fishing has been outstanding.
Red Grouper and Lane Snapper Are Open for Harvest!
Exciting news—Red Grouper and Lane Snapper are now open for harvest, giving anglers even more chances to bring home a great catch. The bite has been steady offshore, with Snapper being particularly eager to bite. We’ve been hauling in a great mix of Lane, Gray, Yellowtail, and Vermilion Snapper, with squid, shrimp, sardines, and white bait as the baits of choice.
Other Offshore Species:
Along with Snapper, we’ve had great success targeting other offshore species. Red Grouper, African Pompano, Cobia, Kingfish, Amberjack, Triggerfish, and Key West Grunts have all been putting up a good fight. For anglers targeting keeper Grouper, we recommend booking an 8-hour offshore trip, as deeper waters offer better opportunities for these bigger fish.
